How it works

4

During the retreat we focus on aspects in your life that hold you back from experiencing loving relationships and the life you long for.

1

Personalized assessment with Elizabeth.

The journey begins with a comprehensive assessment conducted by Elizabeth Alanis, LCSW experienced licensed psychotherapist, shamanic healer and founder of Love into Wholeness™. This initial consultation allows Elizabeth to understand your unique relationship dynamics, personal histories, and specific challenges you and your loved one are facing. This in-depth exploration is crucial for tailoring the retreat to your needs, ensuring a personalized and impactful experience.

2

Customized program for your private 2-5 day retreat.

Based on the insights gained from the assessment, Elizabeth will design a customized program for your private retreat. This program will focus on the key areas that need healing and growth, such as personal history wounds, attachment patterns, ancestral healing, and past life relational karma. The retreat schedule will include a mix of therapeutic and shamanic healing sessions, and experiential exercises in the wisdom of the Medicine Wheel, tailored to your unique situation and goals.

Location for the retreat will be decided upon together.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why do you offer intensive retreats instead of weekly sessions?

Because you make more progress, sooner:

Accelerated Transformation:
A private intensive retreat provides healing, connection, and meaningful change within days—something that often takes months or even years to achieve with weekly, one-hour sessions.

Focused, Continuous Work:
Each day is dedicated entirely to your intention, with sessions running from 9 AM to 5 PM, including a lunch break and other necessary pauses throughout the day. There's no time lost and your healing journey flows seamlessly.

Immediate Engagement:
We begin with an in-depth review of your background, goals, and current challenges, diving straight into intentional work to help you address the areas most in need of transformation.

Targeting Root Issues:
Trauma, along with the unconscious survival strategies we develop—such as attachment styles and relationship patterns—often lies at the root of recurring challenges. Working through these core issues in an immersive setting allows for deeper, more transformative shifts to occur more quickly than with traditional therapy over an extended period.

Practical Integration in Real Time:
Throughout the retreat, powerful tools and healing practices are woven into the experience, helping you gain new perspectives and approach challenges with fresh, innovative solutions. Stabilization and practical strategies are integrated in real time, becoming part of your present-moment experience and enabling lasting change you can implement immediately.

What kind of issues can be addressed in a solo retreat?

Low Self-Worth and Confidence

Unresolved negative experiences often plant the seeds of guilt, shame, and self-doubt. These emotions can limit your ability to express yourself authentically, pursue your goals, or set healthy boundaries. Low self-worth is frequently linked to trauma—sometimes even pre-verbal trauma from early childhood. These experiences can leave you with beliefs such as "I am not enough" or "I don’t deserve love." A solo retreat offers the space to explore these patterns, uncover their origins, and release them, empowering you to build self-confidence and embrace your inherent value.

Chronic Stress and Burnout

Stress is an inevitable part of life, but how we manage it shapes our ability to thrive. Emotional stress becomes chronic when we accumulate unprocessed pain or trauma and lack the tools or support to cope. This can lead to exhaustion, overwhelm, or burnout. In a retreat setting, we can break these stressors into smaller, manageable pieces, uncover the underlying causes, and learn strategies to release tension. As you heal, you'll rediscover your capacity to meet life’s challenges with clarity, resilience, and renewed energy.

Unresolved Trauma and Emotional Wounds

Trauma leaves an imprint, whether it comes from a major life event or cumulative experiences of neglect or emotional harm. Unhealed trauma keeps you stuck in survival patterns—avoiding vulnerability, feeling emotionally numb, or repeating destructive cycles. A retreat provides an immersive space to gently explore these wounds, allowing you to process the pain and integrate the lessons. As the weight of the past lifts, you'll feel more grounded, open, and able to engage meaningfully with the present.

Attachment Wounds and Relationship Struggles

Our early attachment experiences shape how we connect with others throughout life. If your relationships are marked by insecurity, distrust, or avoidance, it may be linked to unresolved attachment wounds. A solo retreat allows you to explore your patterns—whether it’s people-pleasing, fear of abandonment, or emotional withdrawal—and learn healthier ways of relating. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of yourself and practical tools to create more secure, fulfilling relationships.

Grief, Loss, and Life Transitions

Significant losses or changes can leave us feeling unmoored and uncertain about our path forward. Whether you are mourning the death of a loved one, experiencing the end of a relationship, or navigating a major life transition, it’s common to feel stuck in grief or disconnected from your sense of purpose. A retreat offers the time and space to honor these experiences, process your emotions, and reconnect with a deeper sense of meaning. You’ll leave feeling more equipped to embrace change with acceptance and grace.

Codependency and Boundary Issues

When your sense of self becomes entangled with others—whether it’s a partner, family member, or friend—it can lead to codependent behaviors, blurred boundaries, and emotional exhaustion. A retreat allows you to explore these dynamics and understand where they come from. You’ll learn how to separate your identity from the roles you play in relationships and develop the skills needed to set healthy boundaries with confidence and compassion.

Negative Thought Patterns and Self-Sabotage

We all develop thought patterns and behaviors that once served to protect us but no longer serve us today. Whether it's persistent self-doubt, procrastination, or perfectionism, these patterns can keep you stuck in frustration and prevent personal growth. A retreat gives you the opportunity to identify the underlying fears driving these behaviors and learn new ways to respond. With practice, you’ll replace old patterns with empowering thoughts and habits that align with your goals and values.

Each solo retreat is designed to meet you exactly where you are, offering personalized support and healing practices to help you break through your challenges. You’ll leave with clarity, emotional freedom, and practical tools that empower you to live more intentionally and authentically.

What issues cannot be addressed in a solo retreat?

While solo retreats offer deep healing and personal growth, there are some issues that require additional, specialized care or are beyond the scope of a retreat setting. These include:

Active Addiction

If you are currently struggling with substance abuse or behavioral addictions, it will be difficult to engage meaningfully in the retreat process. Active addiction interferes with emotional regulation, focus, and self-reflection. It is essential to first seek professional treatment or a rehabilitation program to achieve stability before embarking on deeper self-exploration.

Severe Mental Health Conditions

Certain mental health challenges, such as untreated bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or severe personality disorders, require ongoing psychiatric care, medication management, and structured therapeutic support. A retreat cannot provide the continuous monitoring and intervention necessary for managing these conditions effectively.

Acute Crisis or Suicidal Ideation

If you are experiencing an acute emotional crisis, including suicidal thoughts, a retreat setting is not appropriate. Immediate professional intervention and crisis support are needed to ensure safety and stabilization. Crisis hotlines, inpatient care, or outpatient therapy would be more suitable avenues during such times.

Ongoing Physical Violence

If you are in a relationship involving physical abuse, it is essential to seek safety and professional support first. A retreat is designed for healing and introspection, which can only take place once you are in a safe environment. For individuals currently experiencing abuse, connecting with a crisis center or advocacy service is a more immediate priority.

These considerations are not meant to discourage, but rather to ensure that you receive the appropriate care and support for your unique needs. If any of these situations apply to you, I encourage you to seek the right resources to stabilize your current situation first, after which a solo retreat may become a transformative next step in your healing journey.

What results can I expect from a solo retreat?

A solo retreat offers a transformative opportunity for personal growth and healing. Here’s what you can expect:

Deep Emotional Healing

You will have the space to address unresolved emotions and process unhealed wounds, allowing you to release the burdens of past experiences. Whether stemming from childhood trauma or recent challenges, a solo retreat creates a nurturing environment to work through these emotions in depth.

Eliminate Ineffective Patterns of Behavior

You’ll learn to identify why your life feels conflicted and how resentments build over time. By recognizing key behavioral and emotional challenges that push you off track, you can stay focused on your goals and create healthier ways of interacting with yourself and others.

Identify Negative Cycles

Understanding your unconscious driving factors is crucial. You’ll discover how these influences complicate your ability to stay open and receptive, often leading to feelings of depression, anxiety, withdrawal, or shutdown. By learning new coping strategies, you can view these cycles as the problem—rather than yourself—helping you maintain trust in your abilities even during challenging moments.

Greater Self-Awareness and Clarity

Through guided reflection, you’ll uncover hidden patterns and beliefs that influence your decisions and relationships. This newfound clarity empowers you to make conscious, healthier choices, fostering personal growth and fulfillment.

Positive Communication Skills

You’ll develop essential skills to communicate effectively, even about difficult topics, without triggering disconnection. With the support of a licensed therapist, you’ll learn techniques to express your needs, set healthy boundaries, and ensure you feel heard in all your relationships.

Tools for Addressing Negative Emotions

Emotions are central to our experiences. You will acquire practical tools to enhance your communication skills, self-confidence, and self-soothing abilities, enabling you to cope more effectively with challenging feelings as they arise.

Renewed Sense of Purpose

A solo retreat allows you to reconnect with your inner self and clarify what truly matters to you. You may rediscover your passions and life purpose and define the next steps in your personal and professional journey.

Foundation of Trust in Yourself

A strong foundation of self-trust is essential for thriving in life. The retreat provides insights into your deepest inner workings, allowing you to derive more joy from life and strengthen your connection with yourself and others.

Enhanced Coping Skills

You’ll develop strategies to manage life’s challenges with resilience. These tools—such as mindfulness practices and emotional regulation techniques—will help you respond to future difficulties with confidence.

A Fresh Start

A solo retreat is an opportunity for renewal, enabling you to leave behind what no longer serves you. You’ll return home with a sense of lightness, clarity, and purpose, equipped to create meaningful changes in your life.

The specific outcomes will depend on your personal goals and engagement level, but the immersive nature of the retreat fosters profound shifts that set the stage for continued growth and fulfillment.

Is followup support recommended after a solo retreat?

Yes, I recommend ongoing support for at least six months following the retreat. Integration is a process, and continued guidance can help you maintain the tools and changes you’ve acquired. I’ll be happy to provide online follow-up sessions to support your progress, address any challenges that arise, and help you stay on track.

We can arrange these sessions after your retreat, ensuring you have the right structure to reinforce your growth and maintain a positive trajectory moving forward.
